Do I need a prescription?

In the state of Michigan, you are required to see a physician and receive a prescription before beginning rehabilitation. Additionally, you may need a referral from your primary care physician, if you are in a managed care program.

How long do I need to come to therapy?

The length of time a person attends therapy varies. Your physician will write a prescription indicating frequency per week and number of weeks for treatment. Depending on your condition, progress and goals your rehabilitation may be extended beyond the original prescription. Your doctor will be kept informed of your progress and will receive written reports. Most conditions require multiple visits per week.

Will I benefit from therapy?

Most people get relief from symptoms with therapy. Some conditions do not go away completely, however, therapy can teach you how to manage severity of symptoms.

What is involved in a PT/wound care session?

There are many different types of treatments. Depending on your diagnosis, your treatments may include

  • Evaluation and assessment of wound
  • Mechanical debridement by a wound care certified physical therapist
  • Appropriate dressing choices
  • Recommendations for wound management

How long are the these appointments?

Depending on your diagnosis, therapy sessions can run anywhere from 30 minutes to 90 minutes per session, multiple times per week.

Will my insurance cover PT/wound care?

Most insurance plans cover PT/wound care, however, you need to check with your insurance company to determine your benefits. We will work with you to obtain the best possible coverage.
